Karin Legato: 100 Years of Ladies Fashions
From 1969 – 2014 Karin was owner and partner with her late husband, James of Emphatics, a lifestyle boutique built on the belief that fashion was an important art form and expression of freedom. The vision let the coupe to Paris in the late ’70s where a young group of designers emerged and revolutionized the fashion industry. After James’ passing, The Phoenix Art Museum acquired “Emphatics Archives” including 400 pieces and ephemera. Where an exhibition titled “Emphatics Avent Garde Fashion 1963-2013 was mounted in November of 2016 and exhibited through January of 2017. Today Karin continues to partner with the Japanese Design House of Issey Miyake. This event is free and open to the public.
