Arthur Edward Litke was born of the flesh on April 23, 1954 in Annapolis, Maryland.  He was born of water and the Spirit through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism on May 16 of that year at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Odenton, Maryland.  He is the second of two sons born to the late Alfred and Ella Litke.


                On April 7, 1968 Arthur was confirmed in his baptismal faith at First Lutheran, where he had been taught to know and love his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.


                After graduating from Arundel High School in 1973, Arthur enrolled in the pre-theological program at Concordia College in Bronxville, New York, graduating in 1975 with an Associate in Arts degree.  He then attended Concordia Senior College in Fort Wayne, Indiana, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1977, as a member of the final graduating class of that institution.


                Arthur entered Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne in the fall of 1977.  He served his year of vicarage (internship) at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bayside (Queens), New York.  Having graduated from the seminary with a Master of Divinity degree, he was ordained at his home church on June 21, 1981.  His first call was to Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Dearborn, Michigan, where he served as Assistant Pastor until the spring of 1983.


                On May 1, 1983 Pastor Litke was installed as Pastor of Christ Lutheran Church in Dundalk (East Baltimore), Maryland, serving in that capacity until he accepted the call to Bethel.  During his tenure in Dundalk he served as Circuit Counselor for the Baltimore East Circuit (1988-1991), as a delegate to the LCMSl convention in Wichita, Kansas (1989), and as a member of the Board of Directors of Augsburg Lutheran Home and Village in Baltimore (1991-1996).


                Pastor Litke was installed as Pastor of Bethel Lutheran Church in Glenshaw, Pennsylvania on June 16, 1996.  While there he served the larger Church in a number of capacities:  Pittsburgh Northeast Circuit Counselor (1997-2003; 2013-2015), Pittsburgh Area Lutheran Ministries Board of Directors (2001-2004), Concordia Lutheran Ministries Board of Directors (1996-1999; 2003-2006; 2016-present), President of the Pittsburgh Pastoral Conference (2003-present), Lutheran Women’s Missionary League Pastoral Counselor for the Pittsburgh Zone (1997-2001) and the Eastern District (2005-2008), delegate to the synodical convention in Saint Louis (2004) and in Houston (2010), Third Vice President of the Eastern District (2006-2009) and First Vice President of the Eastern District (2009-2012).


                On August 24, 1980 Arthur Litke and the former Marie Lynn Raber of Baltimore, Maryland were united in marriage.  The Lord has blessed their union with a son, David Arthur, born April 13, 1985.  Marie works part-time at Kohl’s department store and at Home Depot.  David, a graduate of Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts, lives and works in Waltham and also served in the Army Reserve for twelve years.  He is an active member of First Lutheran Church in Boston.
