The ministry is not a status that is earned; it is an opportunity to serve.  It is honorable, to be sure, but its honor comes not from the accomplishments of the man but from the call of God and from what God accomplishes in and through that man.  The same could be said of the Christian service of laypeople.

  It has been said that man is hopelessly religious.  By nature he longs for something to believe in and to worship, and if he can't find it, then he will make something up. 

 If there is one thing in this conflicted world that nobody seems to be against, it's goodness. 

The glow of that Light (which is Christ) shines far beyond Christmas

 Living our lives as Christians--witnesses in this world for the Lord Jesus Christ--can be a very frustrating experience

  I haven't heard it used much here in the Pittsburgh area, but there's a word I that used hear from time to time in Baltimore that always made me very nervous.  The word was "christening." 

It was at the circumcision of the eight-day old Child of Mary that "He was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb" (Luke 2:21).
