Among the 150 psalms included in the Old Testament book that bears that name there are several that have become known as penitential psalms, or psalms of repentance, because they are psalms that were written to implore the Lord's mercy and to ask His forgiveness for sin

It's amazing how our words and behavior can change when we interact with people in authority--especially people who are in authority over us.

            In the real world, however, thinking that you are smarter than you really are isn't always so funny.  It can, in fact, get you into a lot of trouble. 

The ministry is not a status that is earned; it is an opportunity to serve.  It is honorable, to be sure, but its honor comes not from the accomplishments of the man but from the call of God and from what God accomplishes in and through that man.  The same could be said of the Christian service of laypeople.

  It has been said that man is hopelessly religious.  By nature he longs for something to believe in and to worship, and if he can't find it, then he will make something up. 

 If there is one thing in this conflicted world that nobody seems to be against, it's goodness.
