The dictionary that I have at home defines the word hope as "a feeling that what one desires will happen."

Every Christian, no matter how strong his or her faith may be, from time to time will experience what some have called "the dark night of the soul." 

Today is Trinity Sunday, the day on which we contemplate the great mysteries of our God--mysteries that we humans (even with minds enlightened by the Holy Spirit) cannot fully understand or explain or appreciate. 

I guess deep down inside we all long for "the good old days"--the days when everyone knew what was right and wrong, even if they didn't always do what was right and avoid what was wrong. 

            On this Sixth Sunday of Easter (also known as Rogate Sunday on the old liturgical calendar) we are mindful of God's loving presence among us. 

     "Love" has become such a loaded word in our day and age.

When we come to the Lord's table Jesus Himself is our Host--the One who invites us as His guests and at whose expense we are received and welcomed.
