Loving parents

discipline their children, trying to get them to associate good

behavior with good experiences and bad behavior with bad experiences.

In this way parents teach their children to behave in a manner that

will benefit them and the people with whom they associate

 The One who we call the “Prince of

Peace” (Isaiah 9:6)--the One whose birth was heralded by angels as a

sign of “peace on earth” (Luke 2:14 TEV) [and] “good will toward men”

(Luke 2:14 KJV)--here tells His disciples that He has not come to

bring peace at all, but “rather division.” 

If we were able to see the entire

span of our life, that may very well affect the priorities that we set

and the things that we choose to do and not do

There’s a clever little trick that is often used quite effectively by

philosophers, politicians, salesmen, and even news commentators--a

trick that the secularist social engineers of our day have perfected

We tend to evade our responsibility toward our neighbor under God’s Law by narrowing our definition of “neighbor” to such a extent that most of the people we meet who are in need are excluded.
